Susan Bercu designed the pocket brochure to fulfill the requirement for an energetic and contemporary-looking outreach tool. San Francisco-based Joshua Venture offered fellowships for Jewish social entrepreneurs committed to transforming the American Jewish community. The cover art of footprints in the sand suggests a sense of mission while also connecting to the Biblical story of the Jews’ 40-year sojourn in the desert following their flight from Egypt. Since this powerful image became the signature brand, Susan was asked to translate it into an illustrated logo for the organization. The brochure design was carried into ads, mailers, posters and application materials.
